The first thing I need to say here is that I don't test like most people test. A lot of you are using tracking programs and analytics and things like that, and you can get some really strong statistics...but can you track each and every buyer and know exactly every action they have ever taken (not as a group, but individually)? I can. Here's how I do it.
I set up a different squeeze page for each different traffic source. Then using my auto responder company, which is awebber, I put a different web form on each one, put different web tracking codes on each one, and then when people make sales, we go into those sales, we go into those sales and discover where people came into the website originally. There's advanced tracking software out there that will do that for you, but because of the way I build my site, we've got hundreds of hundreds of pages set up like that we've decided not to go to any other kind of software at this point. If I was starting from scratch I would research that, but I don't have a recommendation for you. Obviously if you're going to have a small number of traffic sources then it makes since to just do it the way I do it, then you're able to, and I can actually identify any single person that purchases from me, I can identify the exact single page they came in on and the first day they came in. So that's why I do it the way I've done it over this period of time.
I think if I was doing two hundred grand a month instead of twenty grand a month then I would probably hire somebody to switch out everything I've got mechanically and use different technology. But at this point it's still working for me. And it's very effective.
This isn't the most glamorous way to track - but for tracking high ticket buying, it is powerful. You see, with the mass numbers in most of the tracking programs, if you are off by a few, it doesn't matter as much. But when you sell $5000, $7500, $15,000 classes - you have to know exactly where the subscriber came from, and what I have been doing now that is even more powerful is actually tracking every single page my buyers look at, and data mining that info to find correlations.
